Same as in 2016, everyone wants to believe that if the democrats had just said the exact right magic words, did the magic dance and then shot rainbows out of their asses, their candidate would have won. And who knows? Maybe there was some combination of nonsense they could have done and gotten a bit closer and won a couple of those swing states, but I still don't think Harris would have won.
My better half speculated that boomers and men in this country still weren't ready to vote for a woman, much less a non-white one. There's probably some truth to that. There's also talk of the contingent that is either ignorant of all of the things DT says or has done, or doesn't think he's "being serious". It's not like we had a 1st term and 8 years to figure out what kind of person he was (most of us already knew). There's probably also some truth to that. There's those who believe every bad thing said about him is a lie by the left-wing-media cabal. Russian social interference and disinformation campaigns were and still are ubiquitous. At this point it seems like an open secret with every intelligence agency in the world. They may as well not even bother changing their names or masking their IPs; what little their targets seem to care.
All these are contributors, sure, and I'm honestly not sure how much they do or don't tip the scales. What I know is the main reason is that people just like DT's general pettiness and shittiness. He tells people what they want to hear about the types of people and things they don't like (for one reason or another). He makes idiotic and horrible promises of cruelty towards those things. They eat it up and tell themselves its ok because he says he loves Jesus.
